Pajarito Scientific Corporation (PSC) is actively seeking an innovative, talented and dedicated Software/Systems Engineer focused on the design and creation of software and code.

The Software Engineer position is responsible for maintaining and developing PSC Information Technology infrastructure in line with business needs and other duties as qualified and assigned: researches, develops, designs, codes, reviews and tests software for use in PSC systems; Works closely with project managers, physicists, engineers and technicians to design, and implement software necessary to deliver project deliverables.

This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. Pay is based on experience (60-70K). Long-Term lodging reimbursment may be available.

Successful Candidate Qualifications

A minimum of 1 year experience in engineering with a knowledge of specialized languages relevant to the technologies employed.

Successful experienced candidates will be required to have working knowledge in the following areas:

  • Create applications in C++ & .NET
  • Create and use DLLs developed using native C++ & .NET
  • Code for communication between applications using underlying Windows messaging
  • Create robust (no crashes) multi-threaded applications using native C++ and .NET
  • Code C++ CLI wrappers for legacy DLL functions so that they can be used by .NET applications
  • Design, build, document, test and deploy GUI based software for data acquisition, control and analysis applications
  • Separate data acquisition, control and analysis logic from UI logic (MVC, MVP, etc. design patterns)
  • Create code that can be easily tested using unit tests
  • Document software design and implementation
  • Use formal revision control
  • Create re-usable code
  • Understand Interoperability between native C++ and managed (C++) code
  • Assist in coordinating design efforts across engineering disciplines: mechanical, electrical/electronic, software
  • Design, build, document, test and deploy electronic, electrical and industrial-control systems
  • Specify and write ladder logic for PLC to accomplish system control and automation tasks
  • Troubleshoot electronic/electrical systems at system level and at circuit board level
  • Generate design drawings using CAD software such as AutoCAD
  • Write system specifications for internal as well as external (customer and vendor) use
  • Be familiar with methods and techniques specific to nuclear industry: in particular, non-destructive assay (NDA)
  • 4 weeks paid time off (PTO) accrued annually for the first five years of employment, then increasing to 5 weeks;

Required Education

A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering discipline with a firm understanding of design methodology is required.

Essential Skills

Effective team working skills, practical hands on approach and excellent communication skills are important qualities for this role.
