Pajarito Scientific Corporation (PSC) is actively seeking an experienced NDA professional interested in challenging career opportunities in the nuclear instrumentation and waste characterization field.

The NDA position includes knowledge and involvement with all aspects of nuclear assay of waste containers: gamma, active neutron, passive neutron assay techniques; system calibrations; system quality assurance checks; data reporting; and spectroscopy evaluations;

The NDA individual contributor objectives include: Verification and validation of all AMWTP-generated NDA data including supplements; Conducting oversight of NDA data generation, reduction and validation of the data received from the drum assay systems; and assisting and supporting management in ensuring proper completion and documentation of assigned non-destructive testing and analysis in accordance with all applicable laws.

Oversight and performance in the Performance Development Program – independent grading of samples and ensuring that the NDA systems remain in compliance with the facility and WIPP requirements.

This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. Pay is based on experience. Infrequent travel is required.

Successful Candidates Qualifications-Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in a related field and 6 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Typical experience ranges from 6 - 9 years.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience with nuclear facility operations.
  • Knowledge of and experience with DOE nuclear facility safety including technical safety requirements, processes and reporting requirements.
  • Qualified in accordance with ASTM C-1490-04 “Standard Guide for the Selection, Training and Qualification of Nondestructive Assay (NDA) Personnel,” specifically section 4.2.2.
  • Maintain up-to-date training on “In-Situ Measurements Using Germanium Detectors, Programs Isotopic, and ISO-Cart,” in addition to PSC developed analytic software or analysis tools.
  • Must possess a DOE "L" clearance or the ability to obtain a DOE "L" Clearance as required.

Candidates not meeting the required experience and education criteria need not apply.

Effective team working skills and practical hands on approach are important qualities for this role, as well as excellent verbal and communication skills.

Position is contingent on customer acceptance.
